दीवार पेंट करने का सही क्रम: (1) पुरानी loose paint हटाएँ और surface clean करें। (2) दरारें और holes putty या crack filler से भरें। (3) सूखने पर sandpaper से smooth करें। (4) Wall primer लगाएँ — एक या दो coats। (5) Finish paint — पूरी coverage के लिए दो coats। हर coat पूरी तरह सूखने के बाद ही अगली coat लगाएँ।
Wall putty white cement-based paste है जो पूरी दीवार पर लगाई जाती है — smooth और even base बनाती है। Crack filler thick compound है जो specifically deep cracks और holes भरने के लिए है। पहले crack filler, फिर पूरी दीवार पर putty।
Distemper basic water-based paint है — सस्ता, interior walls के लिए। Emulsion (acrylic/plastic emulsion) washable और durable है — modern home interiors का standard। Enamel oil-based paint है — hard, glossy और washable finish, doors, grills और metal के लिए।
Interior paint indoor surfaces के लिए है — colour retention, washability और low odour। Exterior paint sunlight, rain और temperature changes सहने के लिए बना है — UV-resistant pigments और waterproofing agents। Interior paint बाहर लगाने से जल्दी peel और fade होता है।
1 litre emulsion paint primed surface पर लगभग 80-100 square feet cover करता है per coat। एक standard 10x12 foot room के लिए दो coats में लगभग 8-10 litres wall paint चाहिए। Doors और windows को non-paintable area मानें। Touch-ups के लिए थोड़ा extra रखें।
